Funeral wakes turned into mobile casinos in Singapore: report

Criminal syndicates in Singapore are using funeral wakes as cover for mobile casinos by paying off grieving families to allow strangers to gamble near their loved ones' corpses, a report said. The Straits Times said the syndicates have found a loophole under which card games are permitted at wakes, usually held for several days, to keep people occupied while paying respects to the dead and meeting friends and relatives.

The complicated economics of death and gambling. I should write a book.
