My attempt at a children's nursery rhyme/lyric/limerick/verse/jingle
The wife of Lot turned to salt and my snacks have been tasty ever since
Marking a life-
I drive by this cross often and decided to pull over to get a closer look. I know nothing about this person or their death.
It has been a while since anyone put up flowers to mark his road side cross.
Sharan Ernst's cross hopefully reminds all that pass by to slow down and take it easy. However, I drive this road often enough to know that this cross has no effect on the driving habits of those that drive by. Google has no mention of the fate of Sharan Ernest so I will continue to drive by and ponder his life and his rarely changed flowers.

The Cost of War:
I never understood the Coke and Pepsi wars. They always seemed rather lame. Two peddlers of carbonated corn syrup and food coloring trying to outspend each other on advertising conquests. They rush after hot young stars and pay tons for the chance to be associated with them. For their money they get to be linked to disease ridden carriers of Herpes and Gonorrhea. For their effort I get charged a dollar forty for a 20 oz coke at a major discount retailer.
Just like with real wars the people at the bottom rung get stuck with the true costs of war.
On the flip side I really like “Coke with Lime” it is much better than the tasteless “Pepi Lime.”

The Diggers
When ever I read about the 60's I always get caught up by the vague references to The Diggers. They are something that I was always wanted to look into. Today I discovered that there is a web site dedicated them. From the site:
I think I will have to spent some serious time at this site.
“The Diggers combined street theater, anarcho-direct action, and art happenings in their social agenda of creating a Free City. Their most famous activities revolved around distributing Free Food every day in the Park, and distributing "surplus energy" at a series of Free Stores (where everything was free for the taking.) The Diggers coined various slogans that worked their way into the counterculture and even into the larger society — "Do your own thing" and "Today is the first day of the rest of your life" being the most recognizable. The Diggers, at the nexus of the emerging underground, were the progenitors of many new (or newly discovered) ideas such as baking whole wheat bread (made famous through the popular Free Digger Bread that was baked in one- and two-pound coffee cans at the Free Bakery); the first Free Medical Clinic, which inspired the founding of the Haight-Ashbury Free Medical Clinic; tye-dyed clothing; and, communal celebrations of natural planetary events, such as the Solstices and Equinoxes.”

Tomatoes and peppers.
The Tomatoes are slowly turning red. Because we can wait no longer we are picking them pink and eating them as quick as we can. Today I pulled two “Bird” Peppers and ate them. They were about half the size of a pea and very tasty. I was unsure when I should pick them and think I will wait a while longer next time. They are rated as very hot and the ones I picked were not all that hot but very tasty.
The economics of falling from grace
After buying his way into the California Governors office Arnold's popularity is in a free fall.
I wonder if he can raise enough cash to buy his popularity back.

Hang time over the pool
Today we pumped up the inflatable pool and spent the afternoon playing in the water. At the end of last summer I was able to get 3 pools at Target for a few dollars each. This is the smaller of the three I bought. I figure If and when we pop this one we will have two others to choose from. Last summers pool lasted all summer, but now that Mquest Jr. is older I am willing to bet he will be harder or his pools this year.

Regarding this post
This post was not removed because of a Cease and Desist order from the Church of Scientology.
Histories and Morons flogging themselves-
Tom Cruse has read about the History of Psychiatry and now he is a expert on mental health issues. Apparently reading about the history of a subject makes one a expert on it.
Swim
Swim lessons started last week. Mquest Jr. is enjoying them greatly. This is the same class he was in last year and he is a bit older than many of the others in his group. The other children in his group range from the age of 6 months to 3 years old. The whole class is a introduction to water and Mquest Jr loves it. Unfortunately I have to work during the week and will probably miss the rest of his lessons.

Overheard:
“My parents are up north- I need to mail a rain jacket up to them. They forgot it and the dog will not go out in the rain to use the restroom with out it. “
cork
I have always thought your liver was like a wine cork-- It must remain near alcohol or it will dry out and become worthless.

hedonism
Did I fail to mention that for the first time in my life I failed to go on Mr Toads Wild Ride? The hedonist in me needs to be punished. But, the hedonist in me would just run off to avoid punishment. Stupid paradox.

JOY
This wraps up our trip to Disneyland. We had a good time. For pictures that did not make it to the Blog take a look at the photos over at the Flickr page. Just click on this photo and you will magically go there.

Thunder Mountain
Thunder Mountain was a highlight of the day. Because of the height requirements we did not ride it, but we we stood outside and watched a train race down the track every 45 seconds.
Mquest Jr. loved every moment of it. He stood against the fence waiting in anticipation for the train to race by. He would point and jump up and down as it thundered down the track.
He could of stood there for hours watching train after train .

Casey Jones
Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.
This old engine makes it on time,
Leaves central station ’bout a quarter to nine,
Hits river junction at seventeen to,
At a quarter to ten you know it’s travlin’ again.
Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.
Trouble ahead, lady in red,
Take my advice you’d be better off dead.
Switchman’s sleeping, train hundred and two is
On the wrong track and headed for you.
Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey jones is ready, watch your speed.
Trouble ahead, trouble behind,
And you know that notion just crossed my mind.
Trouble with you is the trouble with me,
Got two good eyes but you still don’t see.
Come round the bend, you know it’s the end,
The fireman screams and the engine just gleams...
Words by Robert Hunter; music by Jerry Garcia

Class of 55
Disney puts this symbol on all the stuff that lasted through 50 years of money grubbing decisions. I am glad they kept as much as they did, but I miss many of the rides that were torn out over the years.
Pizza
Not the best of pizzas, but It filled us up nicely. My loyal readers should know by now that I have to try a pizza everywhere I go
Mouse
Probably the most photographed site at all of Disneyland. We came back by this place later in the day and their were 100's of people lined up along the fence trying to get a single shot of their family in front of this.

Disneyland
I still have more pictures from our trip to Disneyland. I will try to upload them tomorrow. Click through the Flickr account to see the pictures that I did not use for tonights post.
Disneyland Train
The Train around the park. It is great. Once you get on they never ask you to get off. I think we rode around the park four times. No one in our group was sure. Mquest Jr. could of rode on the train all day but, our group was starting to get hungry.
Buzz Lightyear:
Mquest Jr- did not like Buzz! He was fine with the ride but Buzz was too much for him. I find it odd. Buzz is on his Pull-Ups and should be a old friend. All the cast members would always stop us as we walked along and tell us what fun he would have on the Buzz
Abandon all hope ye who enter here
Dante had a sign at the start of his journey to hell and so did we.
Ride Wench
This was one of the ride operators on the ITS A SMALL WORLD ride. She seamed like the perfect subject for a candid photo.
Profit
Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich for 5.99. I checked the restrooms and they did not have any lubricant available to help with the painful prices that Disney shoves up your ass.
Bagel Shop Prior To Disneyland
Disneyland:
In celebration of Fathers Day my mom, dad and my family went to Disneyland. I laced up my green Converse (forest) and loaded up the car and off we went to our grand Disneyland adventure. We stopped at the bagel shop and fueled up on Cream Cheese and bagels. It turned out to be a messier trip to the Bagel shop than usual. This Bagel shop has the added bonus of having a train that runs around a track located above the counter. Mquest Jr. loves to sit back and watch the train go around and around. After the bagel shop we met up with my brother and his wife loaded up and made it to Disneyland.

Disneyland:
On Saturday we piled into the car and went to Disneyland. I took 650 pictures and only stopped when I filled up the memory card. I brought a extra set of batteries and had to buy more batteries at one of the shops. I am not sure when I will be able to upload some of the pictures to my Flicker account. I am also not sure how many I will upload but I am sure it will take some time to go through them and decide what ones to upload. I hope to have something up by Monday night.
Stay tuned for more.

My Blog and Public Radio International
My Blog and I made it to PRI (Public Radio International) and I got no credit! (but it is O.K.) One of my posts was read on a show called “Open Source”. To celebrate Bloomsday this radio program spent a hour reading stuff off the Internet to document a single day in Blogland. Just as James Joyce's Ulysses documents the single day of June 16 th 1904.
Ulysses holds a special place in my life.
For those of you that wish to listen It can be heard at 43:28 on the broadcast.
Hear it Here The post they quoted from was My formal shoes

Plastic People
She spent a lot of money on her face and body. Too bad she did not use the money to buy a personality.
Idiots and Dorks- The Tom Cruise Syndrome
I have been saying for years that Tom Cruse is an idiot. Finally the rest of the world is catching on to that fact. Now if I can only get everyone to see what a dork Nicolas Cage
is- my life will be complete.
is- my life will be complete.
Michael Jackson
In an effort to raise money Michael Jackson will be opening the Never Land Ranch up as a entertainment complex. Mr Jackson promises that all children under 10 will get a free ride with him. He promises it will be a fun hands on experience for all children.
Breaking News about Terri Schiavo
After viewing the coroners report Florida governor Jeb Bush has asked the states high court to determine if Terri Schiavo is in a persistent dead state or a non-persistent dead state.

Happy Bloomsday
June 16 1904
101 Years ago today the events of James Joyce's Ulysses take place.
I hope everyone has a nice Bloomsday.
My formal shoes
On this day eight years ago I laced up this pair of black monochrome Converse and got married.
After eight years the marriage is still going strong and I still wear these shoes to the few formal events that I go to.
Happy Anniversary

Perks of a new job:
The new employee of the coffee shop is moving a mile a minute. He can not stop talking and his face has developed a nervous twitch. His eyes have a glazed over look and he does not blink. Free coffee must be a perk for the employees.
He must learn to pace himself before his heart explodes.

The lights and sounds of one hand clapping
Open the shutter in a dark room and quickly flash light on object. Move Object. Flash Light. Continue and hope it looks good.
Simple Joe
Making and drinking coffee is one of the great simple pleasures of any morning.
